HNC Legislative Day

HNC Legislative Day

Tuesday, March 22, 2011
Durham and Raleigh, NC

We need your voice! Hemophilia of North Carolina's Legislative Day provides an opportunity for families and individuals across the state to meet with their elected representatives and staff to convey some of the critical issues the community faces and ask for their support. Many decisions are being made this year that will have a lasting affect on the bleeding disorders community. It is more important than ever that we share our message with new representatives that might not be familiar with bleeding disorders and reach out again to those who have supported us in the past.

It is a chance to let your voices be heard and share your personal stories. We encourage you to bring along your family, pictures, insurance explanations of benefits (EOBs) and any other information you'd like to share. The community is facing significant challenges to access to care, and we need your voice and ask you to join us this year!

We will have an exhibit booth available on that day in the Legislative Building and, along with the individual meetings, will help to raise awareness amongst the Legislators and general public concerning issues in the bleeding disorders community.

A breakfast reception and training session is planned for the morning of March 22nd at the Marriott RTP located at 4700 Guardian Dr, Durham, NC (www.marriottrtp.com). At this session, representatives will help prepare everyone for their meetings with the legislators by reviewing the issues identified in our Talking Points, learning techniques that help get your message across, and how to explain to your representative what they can do to help.

After the morning reception, a shuttle will transport everyone to the Legislative Building for their individual meetings. Meeting times and lists will be set up in advance so everyone will have an opportunity to meet with their representatives and staff.

Lunch will be provided for all attendees while at the Legislative Building. After the meeting, the shuttle will transport everyone back to the hotel for a dinner and overview of the day's events.

For individual members and families who must travel some distance to attend, HNC will provide a hotel room for the night of Monday, March 21st. If hotel accommodations are needed, please indicate this on the registration form . Industry representatives may take advantage of the HNC group rate of $129 per night by making reservations on their own (contact the Marriott RTP at 919-941-6886 and ask for Megan). The guaranteed group rate is available until Sunday, February 27th.
